What is Scottsdale Restylane? by BodyNew

The Procedure
Scottsdale Restylane was approved by the FDA in 2003 for usage on facial wrinkles. In particular, this treatment is largely effective when used around the mouth and nose, so it is ideal for nasolabial folds and smile lines. Derived from non-animal-based haluronic acid, a natural sugar compound, the product is a clear liquid gel that is typically used on patients between 35 and 60. During the procedure, your doctor will mark specific areas of injection and administer local anesthetic to reduce your discomfort. Depending on how much of your face you are having treated, the injections could take anywhere from a few minutes to less than an hour. Recovery time is short, with patients typically able to return home immediately.
You will experience swelling for about two or three days, and it is recommended that you stay out of the sun during this time. Though Scottsdale Restylane is a temporary procedure, its results lasts an average of six months, providing you with a significant reduction in deep wrinkles. This procedure is more effective for reducing the appearance of wrinkles than chemical peels or microdermabrasion, with very little complications.

Make sure that you are working with a qualified and experienced medical professional who has had a good track record with this particular treatment. Though side effects are rare, they can include headaches, nausea, flu-like symptoms, and - in rare instances - muscle weakness that resolves itself after the procedure. Your doctor should be able to evaluate your skin's needs in order to determine Restyle is the right option for you. He or she may recommend an alternative treatment, like Botox or Juvederm, in place of Scottsdale Restylane. Be upfront with your goals so that your doctor can use his or her best judgment when it comes to this treatment.
