The skin is the largest organ of the human body. It protects us from infection, solar damage and injury. It helps to hold us together. It is an exchange organ that soaks in nutrients, such as vitamin D, and expels toxins. Skin helps to keep us cool and to retain heat. It also holds in vital water and moisture. Most of us take our skin for granted, concerned primarily with what it looks like over its health. Many skin care products and treatments on the market claim to treat skin conditions such as wrinkling and acne, but are actually detrimental to the overall and long-term health of the skin.
