Design Eclipse
The Mitsubishi Eclipse - An Introduction. by Reg Mant
For almost 20 years, the Mitsubishi Eclipse has been one of America's more favorite sport coupes. Reasons for its success include lustrous styling, powerful engines, a decent volume of relaxation and affordability. As these traits also portray popular domestic rear-drive sport coupes, the Mitsubishi Eclipse has been labeled the Japanese version of a pony car. And like those apparent influences, the Eclipse is recognized more for its straight-line performance than outright cornering prowess. The Eclipse has also consistently been deliberated exclusively for the U.S. market and is a rarity in other parts of the globe.
The genuine Eclipse was the offshoot of a mutual pursuit started in the middle-'80s between Mitsubishi and Chrysler, known as Diamond Star Motors (DSM).
In entirety, there have been four generations of the Eclipse. Computed in conditions of all-around execution and design, the most recent one is unquestionably no slouch. The car doesn't come with any significant factory options, though you definitely get an iPod adapter, which is one of the many dealer-installed accessories.
The Mitsubishi Eclipse is a coupe that has been in production since 1989 for right hand drive markets. It was named after an 18th century English racehorse which won 26 races, and has also been sold as the Eagle Talon and the Plymouth Laser captive imports through Mitsubishi Motors' close relationship with the Chrysler Corporation. Their partnership was acknowledged as Diamond-Star Motors, or DSM, and the vehicle trio through the close of the second-generation line were sometimes referred to by the DSM moniker among enthusiast circles.
As of 2009, the Eclipse is officially unobtainable in North America, Oman, Saudi Arabia, China, South Korea, Kuwait, UAE, the Philippines, and Brazil.
Tale of Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors motor tradition goes back to 1917 when the Mitsubishi Model A, Japans inaugural series-production automobile, was introduced.
